Gwen named Top Celebrity Designer.

Gwen Stefani has beaten Justin Timberlake to
the top of a new U.S. magazine celebrity designer
poll.
The pop stars clashed on the new In Touch Weekly
Hottest Celebrity Designers list, but Stefani’s L.A.M.B.
fashion line, which is a favourite for stylish stars
like Paris Hilton, had the edge.
She beat the William Rast line Timberlake shares with
pal Trace Ayala into second place, with Hilton, Victoria
Beckham and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs rounding out the top five.

7 female-fronted rock bands that kick butt.

From the Rolling Stones to the Jonas Brothers,
rock and roll has always felt like a bit of a boys
club. But when a girl decides to crash the party,
that’s when things get really interesting. We look
at some of the finest women to have ever braved
smelly tour buses, lurid hecklers and filthy backstage
toilets to make history.

No Doubt

Without Gwen Stefani bounding across the stage,
exposing her midriff and delivering squeaky-voiced
bombshells about her love life, it’s unlikely the members
of this Orange County ska-rock band would have
become diamond-certified superstars. The guys may
have complained about their supporting roles ¯ most
famously in the video for “Don’t Speak” ¯ but you know
they can’t wait for Gwen to put the solo career on hold
and stop making babies. “We have this incredible friendship
that nobody can touch,” Stefani said.

Gwen and uniforms…

Uniforms aren’t exactly what comes to
mind when we think of trend-setting star
and clothing designer Gwen Stefani. But
the L.A.M.B. founder has just announced
that she will launch an exclusive line of work-
wear for W Hotels. Starting this fall, female
staff members at the luxe hotel chain’s Living
Room lounges throughout the country will be
outfitted in the custom L.A.M.B. design. And
Gwen’s touch is instantly apparent: the black
jersey dresses combine a fitted ’80s silhouette
and asymmetrical styling with ’60s seam detailing
and side vents. When creating the design, she
knew it would have to not just look good, but
be functional for active employees. “I wanted
to design a super cute dress that I would be excited
to have in my own closet and approached it in
the same way I think about my clothing for a
tour,” she says. “We’ve designed a sexy and
comfortable outfit for these women to wear
out on their own stage every night.”

the Ben Sherman Macy’s Passport Fashion Show
in San Francisco next week (September 16, 17,
18) and in Los Angeles the week after. If you’re
going to be around either city, we’d love to see
your support! xxx’s and ooo’s Nina”

Fashion Week Exclusive: W is going g.L.A.M.B.

Singer/designer Gwen Stefani, known for her love
of red lipstick and teen style from Japan’s trendy
Harajuku neighborhood, will produce the uniforms
for W Hotels bar staff in connection with L.A.M.B.,
one of her two fashion collections. W and L.A.M.B.
are expected to announce the deal in a few days.
The uniforms–short dresses made of washable
black jersey–will debut in December or early next
year.

The Stefani/W Hotel partnership grew out of the
luxury hotelier’s sponsorship of a Fashion Week
lounge where celebs can escape from the hoi
polloi and the flashbulbs.

“Gwen Stefani was in our lounge last season, and
through that relationship she’s doing uniforms for
the [Rande] Gerber bars located in W Hotels,” said
Jenni Benzaquen, director of public relations for W
Hotels, who declined to discuss terms of the deal.

This partnership is another way W gets a return
on its sponsorship of Fashion Week and the backstage
lounge, now in its tenth season. So far this week,
J. Lo and Gossip Girls Blake Lively and Leighton Meester
have stopped in, lending their wattage to the W brand.

W already outfits its employees in style, with Michael
Kors’ designed mix and match separates. And Gerber
has his own elite fashion connections as husband of
supermodel Cindy Crawford.

Ellen talks about Zuma.

Newlywed Ellen DeGeneres has said that
she and bride Portia de Rossi talk about
having kids, but what baby names do they
discuss?

“We’ve thought of names, ironically … Jumbo
Shrimp is good,” the talk show host tells Extra.

Recently DeGeneres spent time with pals
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s growing
family – including their newborn son Zuma
Nesta Rock Rossdale – which inspired some
parental-ish feelings for the comedian. “I was
holding Zuma this weekend. And all I kept doing
was [singing] ‘All I want to do is a Zuma Zuma
zoom and shake your rump.”

DeGeneres’s alternate plan to having kids to
adopt – but not just anyone. “I would adopt
the Jonas Brothers,” she quipped. “They really
are good kids. They appreciate everything still.”

The new season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show
debuts Monday with guest Michelle Obama. “She’s
tall. That was my first impression,” says the host.
“She’s lovely. Her kids were here and they were
as sweet as can be.”

Tom, Tony and Adrian joining Scott Weiland in solo album.

As their singer Gwen Stefani concentrates
on motherhood, her fashions, and her own
music career, other No Doubt’s members
Tony Kanal, Adrian Young, and Tom Dumont
are confirmed to hit the studio with former
Velvet Revolver’s and current Stone Temple
Pilots’ singer Scott Weiland to record his second
solo album. Called “Happy”, the album is
co-produced by Scott himself and Doug Grean.

In an interview, Scott says that the album,
which follows up his 1998 solo debut “12 Bar
Blues”, is described as his musical natural
progression. “It’ll definitely be a sonic journey
like the first album was, a little bit more focused
since I’m not on a narcotic journey like I was
on the last one,” the singer states. “But, you
know, still sort of all over the map, because
my influences are so wide and varied.”

Though full track listing for the album hasn’t
been officially announced yet, a source says
that the record will include new materials,
including mid-tempo “Paralysis”, banjo-acoustic
guitar “She’s So Cold”, rock “Talk About Love”,
a-bit-romantic “Somedays”, and glamor “Missing
Cleveland”. Furthermore, Scott is planning
to tour in November to support the album,
which will arrive in the market on November
18 via his own Softdrive label. In the meantime,
he’s now on tour with the reunited Stone Temple
Pilots until October 31.
