Why Gwen named her second son Zuma?

By naming their newborn son Zuma Nesta Rock,
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale “have proven
decisively that they’re masters in choosing names
that are both highly unusual and carry a lot of
personal meaning,” baby name expert Pamela
Redmond Satran, co-author of
The Baby Name
Bible
, tells Usmagazine.com.

“They’ve continued their own place-naming tradition
by naming their son after Zuma Beach in Malibu,”
Satran explains, citing a profile of Rossdale which
said he had an epiphany that began his career.

“He was standing on Zuma Beach in the early
morning after working all night as a production
assistant on a music video and was quoted as
saying he realized he was wasting his time,” Satran
says. “He drove up the coast, slept in his car, and
started making the moves that would launch his
career.”

Zuma is also the name of a 1975 album by Neil
Young and Crazy Horse.

Nesta, meanwhile, was Bob Marley’s first name
before an immigration official switched it with
his middle name, Robert.

“This name obviously links to big brother Kingston’s
and is another nod to Jamaica and reggae,” says Satran.

Bob Marley’s son Ziggy used Nesta as a middle name
for his son, as did his other son Rohan, who has a son
named John Nesta Marley with singer Lauryn Hill.

The name Rock “needs no explanation,” given that the
baby’s parents are rock stars, Satran says, and the fact
that we’re “long overdue for a Rock Hudson-inspired revival.”

Gavin’s parents thrilled over baby news.

Gwen Stefani and her rocker hubby Gavin
Rossdale just welcomed their second son,
Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale yesterday,
and the family couldn’t be more thrilled.

“Everyone is just so very happy,” Rossdale’s
father Douglas told Us Weekly. “It’s fantastic
news, and I’m just so happy.”

He also said that he “can’t wait” to meet the
little guy. “I’m always proud of Gavin and my
grandchildren.”

Baby Zuma was born at 12:46 p.m. in Los Angeles
on Thursday Weighing 8 1/2 lbs. Can’t wait to
see their adorable offspring! Wonder if they’ll be
selling the photos to the weeklies?!

Baby Boy Zuma

Love, angel, music, baby No. 2.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
welcomed
their second little prince today,
E! News has confirmed.

Son Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale was born
Thursday at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical
Center, joining 2-year-old brother Kingston in
the musically inclined couple’s burgeoning brood.

The family’s newest addition arrived at 12:46 p.m.,
weighing 8.5 pounds.

“Mother, baby and family are all happy and healthy,”
a rep for the couple said in a statement.

Stefani set tongues wagging early this morning when
she was spotted checking into Cedars, around which
the paparazzi immediately set up camp.

A clean-shaven Rossdale, clad in jeans and a black shirt,
was spotted earlier this afternoon running through the
maternity ward, looking for his wife’s birthing suite.

“Run, daddy, run!” shouted a super excited Kingston, who
was leading his father along.

Stefani had looked ready to burst for some time. In fact, today
wasn’t the first time a hospital run set off the stork alert.

On Aug. 7, the No Doubt frontwoman also got paparazzi in
a tizzy when she showed up at Cedars-Sinai for what turned
out to be a simple 30-minute checkup.

News of the pregnancy first brokeback in January, when
Gavin’s father, Douglas Rossdale, confirmed the bun in the oven.

Britney’s boys had a playdate with Kingston.

Britney and her boys were spotted yesterday
at the Summit, the gated community where she
lives, with non other than Gwen Stefani’s son,
Kingston!  Kingston was driving Sean Preston’s
little car while Sean drove another car, not
looking amused!  Jayden was in her mother’s
arms the whole time.

And yes, the picture was taken yesterday, even
though it looks like something taken back in 2003.
I am shocked at how much progress Britney’s
made in the last 6 months!

Pussycat Dolls want a piece of Gwen

After she drops the baby weight and gets her bangin’
bod back, Gwen Stefani already has a job offer on the line.

At the Apple Lounge grand opening, Pussycat Dolls creator
Robin Antin said she wants Gwen to perform with the Dolls
in her new club, which is right next door.

“I hope so, I really do,” she told E! News. “I love Gwen.
She’s the ultimate Pussycat Doll.”

Gwen first performed with the Dolls back in 2000 at the
Viper Room. Antin has been friends with the pop star for
a long time and is anxiously awaiting the birth of Stefani’s
next child.

“I know that it’s soon,” she said. “I’m so happy for her.
She’s a great mom and her children are beautiful.”

What is in Gwen’s bag?

The ever-platinum busy mom Gwen Stefani rocks
her retro movie-star look through many moods
and music styles (reggae to dance-hall to pop,
baby!). With fame, family, and her L.A.M.B. fashion
line, she relies on a secret stash to stay fragrant
and fiercely feminine.

1. Pantene Pro-V Style Sheer Volume Hairspray,
Ricky’s smooth and bungee elastics:
“I like to play
with my hair. When you’re pregnant, you’re tempted
to change your style radically. I’ve had to resist!”

2. Harajuku Lovers fragrances in G, Lil’ Angel,
Music, Love, Baby:
“Each bottle is a replica of one
of my backup dancers–who I miss so much now
that we’re not on tour! I wanted Baby to have a
baby-powdery scent and G to be fruity.”

3. L.A.M.B. Linstead clutch: “Of course, I’m always
carrying a L.A.M.B. bag.”

4. MAC Matte Lipstick in Russian Red: “My husband
loves me in red lipstick, and I still just want to
impress him.”

5. MAC Fawntastic Cream Colour Base: “We used
this at the last L.A.M.B. show.”

6. Kiehl’s Cucumber Essence: “I lean toward
scented oils that are sweet–like cucumber, coconut,
pear. Musky scents are too serious.”

“Even when we played with punk-rock bands, I was
always girly. The best part is getting made up and
then sweating it all off during the concert.”
